Brigitte Bourger: Variations on Light
My monochrome series “Variations on Light” was inspired by different artistic styles, especially painting. First of all by the Flemish painters who emphasized detail in their paintings. Also by the darkness of the paintings of Caravaggio.
More recently in the history of art, I am inspired by the painter Pierre Soulages. His use of black and light and his mono-pigment paintings that emphasize the reflection of light on black surfaces.
Finally, is the Scottish photographer, Donald Cameron, whom I particularly like. His minimalist photographs of Scottish coastlines are absolutely superb and his work with light is for me fabulous.
